Personal Statement
I was just three when I first sat in a theatre seat to see a children’s production of Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves. I was captivated and although I didn’t know it at the time but this was day one of a life long love affair with the performing arts. As the son of an arts journalist I have spent countless hours viewing, analysing and critiquing theatre, something that has morphed into my podcast Ride Home Review.
By age five I knew I wanted to do not just critique so I joined Fame Theatre Company. Five years later I had my first successful audition at Brisbane Arts Theatre and since that time I have also performed with BYDE, Little Red Theatre Company and Harvest Rain.
The more I performed other peoples words the more I wanted to write my own. While nothing I have ever written has ever been performed I have virtual draws full of scripts in various stages of development. In the last year I have embraced some of the more technical sides of the arts and have had to opportunity to Assistant Stage Manage and Spot Operate a number of shows, this is something I wish to continue into the future, hopefully one day directing or stage managing a show.
